“The Carrie Furnaces National Historic Landmark is a mysterious and powerful place that provides a unique link to our past. For many people it is a spectacle. For others the site holds a special place in their family narrative. Photo Arts programming at Rivers of Steel Arts embraces the full range of interpretations and fresh perspectives visitors bring to the furnaces. Photo safaris offer space and time to explore the site while educational workshops provide expert instruction covering a range of both digital and analogue photographic processes.”
Photo Arts Coordinator
Photo Safaris are offered May through October.
These 3-hour photo safaris are led by RoSA Photo Arts Coordinator Ivette Spradlin, a photographer, video artist, and educator. Check out her BIO. Safaris are appropriate for both novice and experienced photographers alike craving an “open” shooting experience with very little interruption, guidance or interference. For workshops that offer in-depth instruction please consider our Iron Imagery Workshops or Guided Photo Workshops.
Private photographic opportunities are available Monday through Friday, by appointment only. Contact Stacy Drane or call 412-464-4020 ext. 32 for information.
